Place gem over your favorite part of the book page to visualize what your magnet will look like.

Place gem over your favorite part of the book page to visualize what your magnet will look like.

  • Next, find the book page section that you want to use for your magnet.  We used a combo of book illustrations & typography for variety. (Tip-You can make this even more personal by using photos or pictures from magazines!)
  • Place gem over the area that you want to use to visualize what it will look like.  Trace around the gem, then cut out area-just a smidge inside of your traced line.
  • Apply a small layer of Mod Podge to entire flat, backside of the gem.
  • Place gem on top of the paper & press down.  Make sure to smooth the edges of the paper down around the edges as well so that it forms to the back of the gem (Don’t worry if the gem looks a little cloudy, the Mod Podge will dry clear!!).
  • Apply coat of Mod Podge to the back of the gem.

Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the back of the gem.

  • After you let the paper fix to the gem for a minute or so, apply a thin coat of Mod Podge on the back of the paper to seal it.  Let Mod Podge dry as you work on the rest of your magnets.
  • Once the paper on your gem is dry to the touch, place the gem paper side up & add a small drop of Super Glue to the back of the gem (Remember- a little Super Glue goes a long way!).
  • Last, peel the backing off the magnet & push it down on the back of the gem where you put your drop of Super Glue. Voila-you’re done!
  • A Couple Tips

Hold the magnet in place for a few seconds to make sure it adheres well to the back of the gem. Also, if you notice any Mod Podge residue on the front of your gem magnets you can clean the glass side with a slightly damp paper towel.
